Our History

³Ô¹ÏÁÔÆæ Global is the first statutorily-defined, non-profit, online state university in the United States.

³Ô¹ÏÁÔÆæ Global has helped over 20,000 students earn their degrees and complete their industry-aligned certificate programs towards their professional success as supported byÌý³Ô¹ÏÁÔÆæ Global ROI data.

Originally funded with a loan from the ³Ô¹ÏÁÔÆæ Board of Governors, ³Ô¹ÏÁÔÆæ Global quickly obtained accreditation and was legally sanctioned as an independent university in Spring, 2009, when Colorado’s Governor Ritter signed Senate Bill 09-086, declaring ³Ô¹ÏÁÔÆæ Global Campus an online university within the ³Ô¹ÏÁÔÆæ System — not simply an extension of the ³Ô¹ÏÁÔÆæ bricks-and-mortar campuses. On July 1, 2010, the ³Ô¹ÏÁÔÆæ System formally appointed Dr. Becky Takeda-Tinker as ³Ô¹ÏÁÔÆæ Global’s first official president and CEO. In recognition of the growing needs of nontraditional learners, ³Ô¹ÏÁÔÆæ Global has spent more than a decade innovating and refining digital education practices to ensure that the same rigorous academic standards found at traditional colleges and universities are observed in ³Ô¹ÏÁÔÆæ Global’s online classrooms.

³Ô¹ÏÁÔÆæ Global has also innovated career-specific degree and certificate programs designed to help working adults stay on point with fast-changing industry trends. By partnering with business and thought leaders, ³Ô¹ÏÁÔÆæ Global continually strives to stay ahead of business trends and practices in multiple fields.
