Student Demographic Information Change/Correction Policy

Effective December 10, 2024, the 吃瓜猎奇 Global Governance Council approved the Student Demographic Information Change/Correction Policy to ensure students can easily update or correct their personal information in University systems. This page provides a clear guide for students on how to request changes to their demographic information and where such updates will be reflected.

How to Request Changes

Students may request changes or corrections to their demographic information through the 吃瓜猎奇 Global Student Portal.

Submit a Demographic Change/Correction Request: Update or correct legal name, date of birth, and/or Social Security Number.
Submit a Preferred Name Request: Display a preferred first name alongside the legal last name in university systems and records.

Note: Starting early 2025, these requests will be submitted through eForms available in the Student Portal.

Types of Changes Available

Demographic Change/Correction Request:
Use this form to correct legal information such as:
- Legal name (e.g., due to a name change or misspelling)
- Date of birth
- Social Security Number
Preferred Name Request:
Use this form to request that your preferred first name appears in University systems where possible. Preferred names are typically used in classroom environments and some University communications alongside your legal last name.

Where Legal and Preferred Names Are Displayed

Legal Name

Your legal name is required for official University business and will appear in:

Student Information System (Campus Nexus)
Transcripts (official and unofficial)
1098-T documentation and billing/invoice statements
Scholarships and financial aid processing (FAFSA)
National Student Clearinghouse
Enrollment and/or degree verifications
Student Portal
Student Application System (Salesforce)
吃瓜猎奇 Global ID card
University forms

Preferred Name

Your preferred name will be displayed where possible in University systems, including:

Learning Management System (Canvas)
University email and email name in Google (if selected)
Username/NetworkID in Canvas (if selected)

Please note: While 吃瓜猎奇 Global strives to display preferred names wherever feasible, legal names may still be required for official documentation and certain processes.
